Flag of Sweden.

With thanks to Dan Glimne - S for his information on the history of the early Swedish editions
and David Miller - UK for his contribution of many early editions as well as an enormous number of later issues.

Map of Sweden.
Sweden is one of the countries Parker Brothers, or better said their UK licensee Waddington, who was responsable for the European countries, found a publisher for their Monopoly game in the very early days. However, in the course of time the publisher changed and finally Parker/Hasbro centralized production in their large works in Ireland where all European editions are manufactured since about 1995.

Dan Glimne, who worked as Alga's product development manager during 1980 -1989 raises a bit of the veil over the Swedish Monopoly history:

"The first edition came out in April or May 1937, under licence from Parker, and it was published by Åhlén & Åkerlunds Förlag (mainly a publisher of weekly magazines at the time). Å&Å, as it was known for short, was part of the Bonnier publishing empire. In 1938 the Monopoly licence was transferred to AB Alga Konst- och Bokförlag (another company within the Bonnier group). Sometime shortly after World War Two the company name was changed to Aktiebolaget Alga (AB Alga for short), which name it has kept since, even when in 1983 it was sold by Bonnier and bought by BRIO AB.
Alga published Monopoly from 1938 to 1983, at which time Parker (May 1981) revoked the licence because they wanted to enter the Scandinavian market themselves. Monopoly has since then been in Parker/Hasbro hands. The first Parker edition was by the way not all that nice, since they instead of the traditional metal playing pieces used thin plastic "tops"! Parker had great difficulties recruiting personnel here, which resulted in that they for almost ten years co-operated with BRIO, for which purpose BRIO set up the separate Playmix company.
Today, Hasbro runs its own company with the HQ located in Denmark.

Alga made the game with black small boxes and separate gameboards until the early 1950's, when they introduced a box (blue design, showing in black and white a house being constructed) big enough to also hold the gameboard.

The first gameboard (1937) was very nice, yellow in colour with some pretty nice drawings for the Electric Company and Waterworks, and it was kept until (I believe) 1961, when the "white box edition" started being used and the gameboard was redesigned: out went the yellow one, and in came the light blue version with a sort of Swedish Uncle Pennybags in the middle. Later (1970's) the gameboard colour was changed to a very light blue green, with two pictures of Uncle Pennybags on it, one in each inner corner (next to the Jail and Go To Jail squares). When Parker/Playmix took over the game, they however introduced the standard American type gameboard with the "flat" colours for the properties -- no stars, no bubbles.

In 1996, Hasbro adjusted the values of a number of the properties, which had remained unchanged from 1937 up until then.

Regrettably Åhlén & Åkerlund ceased to exist as a company in the 1970's (policy decision from the Bonnier group), and after the mandatory ten years for tax purposes, all paperwork -- including everything to do with Monopoly -- was thrown away as rubbish. Thus, nobody today knows who designed the original Swedish Monopoly board, but in all likelihood it was one of the in-house artists of Å& Å at the time."

From 1937 through  ±1950 the properties are streets from Stockholm being from onwards:

Vattenledningsverket and Go to Jail-1937.Norra Station and green Diplomatstaden-1937.Västerlånggatan
- Allmänning (Community Chest) - Hornsgatan - Inkomstskatt (Income Tax) - Södra Station - Folkungagatan - Chans - Götgatan - Ringvägen - I Fängelse (Jail) - S:t Eriksgatan - Elverket - Odengatan - Valhallavägen - Östra Station - Sturegatan - Allmänning (Community Chest) - Karlavägen - Narvavägen - Fri Parkering - Strandvägen - Chans - Kungsträdgårdsgatan - Hamngatan - Centralstation - Vasagatan Kungsgatan  -Vattenledningsverket (Water Works)Stureplan  - Gå till Fängelse - Gustav Adolfs torg - Drottninggatan - Allmänning (Community Chest) - Diplomatstaden - Norra Station - Chans - Centrum - Lyx-skatt (Luxury tax) and Norrmalmstorg.

From ±1950 through ±1981 different color bars are created by applying bubbles, stars and a screen of lines in the bars. From onwards:

Vattenledningsverket and Go to Jail-±1950.Norra Station and yellow Diplomatstaden.Västerlånggatan (with bubbles) Hornsgatan (with bubbles) - Inkomstskatt (Income Tax) - Södra Station - Folkungagatan - Chans - Götgatan - Ringvägen - I Fängelse (Jail) - Eriksgatan Elektricitetsverket - Odengatan - Valhallavägen (in a white frame) - Östra Station - Sturegatan (with screen of red lines) - § Allmänning (Community Chest) - Karlavägen (with screen of red lines) Narvavägen (with screen of red lines) - Fri Parkering - Strandvägen - Chans - Kungsträdgårdsgatan - Hamngatan - Centralstation - Vasagatan (with bubbles) Kungsgatan (with bubbles) -Vattenledningsverket (Water Works) Stureplan (with bubbles) - Gå till Fängelse - Gustav Adolfs torg - Drottninggatan - § Diplomatstaden - Norra Station - Chans - Centrum (with stars) - Lyx-skatt (Luxury tax) and Norrmalmstorg (with stars).

The color bars of the first 3 streets combinations slightly changed over the years from 1961 onwards under the influence of Parker Brothers.

From ± 1981 through at least 2007 differences in some names and colorbars were applied, resulting in from onwards:

Vattenledningsverket and Go to Jail ±1982.Norra Station and light green Diplomatstaden ±1982.Västerlånggatan - Allmänning (Community Chest) - Hornsgatan - Inkomstskatt (Income Tax) - Södra Station - Folkungagatan - Chans - Götgatan - Ringvägen - I Fängelse (Jail) - S:t Eriksgatan - Elektricitetsverket - Odengatan - Valhallavägen - Östra Station - Sturegatan - Allmänning (Community Chest) - Karlavägen - Narvavägen - Fri Parkering - Strandvägen - Chans - Kungsträdgårdsgatan - Hamngatan - Centralstation - Vasagatan Kungsgatan -Vattenledningsverket (Water Works)Stureplan - Gå till Fängelse - Gustav Adolfs torg - Drottninggatan - Allmänning (Community Chest) - Diplomatstaden - Norra Station - Chans - Centrum - Lyx-skatt (Luxury tax) and Norrmalmstorg.

Åhlén & Åkerlunds Förlag edition, 1937.Edition: Monopol - small box with separate game board
"Copyright by Åhlén & Åkerlunds  Stockholm"
Publisher: Åhlén & Åkerlunds Förlag - 1937
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the game board: 49.5 x 48.7 cm
The game:
This edition is owned by Henrik Harnevie-S.
The design of this first Swedish edition is in many ways that of the Waddington's board but with rather a lot of important deviations.

Similarities:

The underground color of the board is green.

The Allmänning spaces only show a < in a black dot (no blue treasure chest).

There is nothing in the Extra Skatt space (no gold ring).

All property names are mentioned twice, in mirror image.

Swedish gameboard from 1937.Elverket-1937.Essential differences:

There is no illustration with “2 black engines, 2 houses and the £-sign through
the middle O" on the lid and centre of game board. Instead the logo of these
editions became "a seller handing over a contract of sale to a buyer, under a
Monopoly arch".

The station spaces have different illustrations rather than "the green engine
going backwards".

The Jail space (Fängelse) shows a prisoner (yellow clothing with black strips)
shaking hands with a visitor (in blue suit), rather than a rascal behind bars.

There are two cars on the  Free Parking corner, rather than one red one.

The next corner shows a policeman taking in a convict, rather than a policeman with a wistle.

Elverket shows a hot iron burning a cloth.

Vattenledningsverket shows an overflowing bathtub.

Like in the early American and UK editions the game consists of a small box for all accessories as there are: the property deeds, the Chans- and Allmänning cards, banknotes, houses and hotels, tokens and dice and a separate game board. The lid, as well as the centre of the board, shows an image with two large towers (one of which is the tower of Stockholm's town hall). In between are two men, a seller handing over a contract of sale to a buyer. This image is typical for the interpretation of Monopoly by the Swedish designers. This also applies for the funny images on the station spaces, Jail-, Free Parking- and Go-to-Jail corners as well as the Electric Company- and Water Works spaces. Moreover, these images do change in the course of next decades!

Common Monopoly banknotes with the Å and Å editions. The design of the 7 banknotes (97x 53 mm) is of the official Monopoly notes, but again with some variations:

  1. Different engine and house in square 2 and 3.

  2. No mention of the "pat.appl.for" number below the figure in the ellipse.

Yellow streets from Stockholm till ± 1985. Over you receive kr. 4.000.
Like in all countries over the world the big mistake made by the start of Monopoly in 1935 in the USA, the rent of unbuilt property is the same for all 3 yellow streets, while it should had been slightly higher for Stureplan. It  lasted till 1996 before the correction was made and the rent of unbuilt Stureplan became kr. 480.

The Chans cards (89x52 mm) are dark pink through in color, the Allmänning cards very light yellow.

The 6 tokens in this first edition, made of light metal, are: timble (with inscription "for a good girl", see Phil Orbanes De oorspronkelijke lopers van Parker.
book "Monopoly, the world's most famous game", page 68.
) - hat - boat - iron - shoe and car.
Both dice are black with gold pips.

The price of this edition was at the time of publication Kr.10:-.

Algas Konst- & Bokförlag edition-1938.Edition: Monopol - small box with separate game board
               Ett Alga Spel
"Copyright by A.-B.Algas Konst- & Bokförlag  Stockholm"
Publisher: A.-B.Algas Konst- & Bokförlag - Stockholm - 1938
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the game board: 49.5 x 48.7 cm
The game:
Already 1 year after Å&Å launched Monopoly in Sweden the licence was transferred to "AB Alga Konst- och Bokförlag", another company within the same Bonnier group.
The image on both the lid and game board, with "seller and buyer between 2 buildings" remained unchanged. Only the name of the company changed and the remark
"Ett Alga Spel" was added to stress that name.

Water Works space with overflowing bathtub. The design of the game board did not change and so the underground color of the board remained greenish yellow, while the color bars on top the properties are still the usual ones.
The back of the board is dark grey marble.

Notes:
1. The policeman (in a blue green uniform) is taking in a person in black suit wearing a red hat.
(The same is in the Å&Å edition, by the way).
2. Compare the image on
Vattenledningsverket with those of the issues of later years.

The Chans cards are light pink through, while the Allmänning cards are grey.
The 6 tokens going with this edition, made of light metal, are: timble (without engraving) - hat - boat - shoe - iron and car.
The wooden houses are dark green, the hotels red.
Both dice are transparent amber in color, probably made of that early plastic bakelite. The pips are black.

Aktiebolaget Alga edition Kr. 12,65 , ±1948.Edition: Monopol - small box with separate game board - kr.12,65
              Ett Alga Spel
Publisher: AKTIEBOLAGET ALGA - Stockholm - ±1946
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the game board: 49.5 x 48.7 cm
The game:
There are a few interesting points to mention about the more colorful picture on the lid and game board, viz.:

The selling price at the launch of Kr.12,65 is shown on the lid.

The "seller and buyer" stay no longer starchy, but they are more human and stay less formal. Seller is dressed in a blue
striped suit wearing a red tie. Buyer has a white jacket and blue striped trousers.

Buyer is delivering seller a bundle of red 10 (thousand?) kronor banknotes.

Instead of a uniform grey skyline the background now shows a green shrubbery with a red and more detailed skyline.

The game board's properties still have the original Waddington color bars and double names.
The Chans cards are light yellowish pink through, while the Allmänning cards are grey.
The 6 tokens going with this edition, made of light metal, are: timble (without engraving) - hat - boat - shoe - iron (missing in the set concerned) and car.
Both dice are black with yellow pips.

Set for Kr.14 for sale.Price of kr.14Edition: Monopol - small box with separate game board - kr.14,-
              Ett Alga Spel
Publisher: Aktiebolaget ALGA - Stockholm - ±1948
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the game board: 49.5 x 48.7 cm
The game:
Only because of the higher selling price mentioned on the lid I've dated this edition somewhat later then the preceeding one.

After a serious study of a few pictures of this set following conclusions can be made:

Different notation of publisher's name.

The design of the board is mainly still the same as the one develloped by Å&Å. However, there are additional lines
between the name of a property and its color bar.

The Chans cards are yellowish and the Allmänning cards light blueish.

The 6 banknotes are no Monopoly notes. The design is different. They are printed in color on white paper, respectively: 10 - 50 - 200 - 500 - 2000 and 10000.

The wooden houses are dark green, the hotels red.

The Rules are printed in black and show the image of the lid on top.

Both dice are black with yellow pips.

This set was sold on www.tradera.com at the price of 227.- kr. (€24.37) Februari 2008.

The 5 plastic tokens of this set.
Price of kr.17;75.In  August 2012 Teemu Pikkumäki from Helsinki pointed me out he owns a same edition with yellow shrubbery, but with a slightly higher price (kr.17;75) printed on the lid.
This is undeniably a somewhat later edition. It could mean that the price was adjusted any production batch if necessary. Moreover, it is not generally used the selling price to be printed on the set.

The 5 tokens in his set are of plastic and in the colors: hat - iron - car - thimble
and locomotive (white).

Aktiebolaget Alga, edition ±1949.Edition: Monopol - small box with separate game board
Publisher: Aktiebolaget Alga - Stockholm - ±1949
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the game board: 49.5 x 48.7 cm
The game:
I saw this picture of the poor box somewhere and I think it to be worthwhile to show it here.
There is at least one slight difference with the version before this, viz. it only shows, underneath the image, the name and the town of the Alga company but nothing more.

After a serious study of a few picuters of this set following conclusions can be made:

The handwritten notes on the inside of the lid, like "Schuh - Hut - Häuse and Würfel" in German indicates this edition had ever
been owned by a German.

The shrubbery behind both men is light green.

The almost square property deeds have rounded cornes.

The Chans cards are light pink through, the Allmänning cards light grey.

The 4 metal tokens present with this set are: hat - shoe - car and boat.

The crude wooden houses are blue green, the hotels red.

Small blue box with separate board, edition ±1955.Edition: Monopol - small blue box with separate game board
              Ett Alga
Spel
Publisher: Aktiebolaget Alga - Stockholm - ±1950
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the small board: 42.8 x 43.1 cm
The game:
This small blue box issue is one of a series of exactly the same composition, only differing in the color used for the lid.

A. New in these editions is the design of the game board, where the color bars of most of the streets have been changed and not only in flat colors but also in bubbles, stars or lines in the bars, see the listings on top. Although the property names on the spaces are still mentioned twice (typical for the Waddington design) the images on the stations, the corners and even the Allmänning spaces (§) changed.

B. Another new phenomenon is the lid showing a total different image compared to that of the board. The lid shows a white building and a steel structure with a sign showing the inscription "Tomter till salu!" (Properties for sale). In the red Monopol bar of the lid is a little black bar showing "Ett ALGA spel".
The centre of the board however, still has an image of "a seller and a buyer" but in a total new design: A kind of "Rich Uncle Pennybags" figure, the exuberant person of course Banknotes of all color edged boxes, ±1950. with the cigar and the contract of sale in his hands is clearly praising his product to a prospect in raincoat, in an environment of houses and skyscrapers.
The back of the game board has a granite appearance.

C. The banknotes (98x53 mm) got a 7th denomination in the 1000 kr. note. These notes were printed on thin, colored paper in hard to describe colors (see yourself). Underneath the big figures in the oval of the notes "Ett ALGA spel" is written.

D. And finally the metal tokens have been replaced by plastic ones with a new item as well, never shown before: iron - car - train - hat - thimble and a munkpanna. However, the colors of these tokens do vary over the editions, see further on.

The Chans cards are light pink through, the Allmänning cards blue green.
The houses and hotels are made of crude wood.
Both wooden dice in this set are red with white pips, but it has to be said that it always remain doubtfull if the dice in a used game are still the original ones.

Red edged small box, 1950.Edition: Monopol - small red box with separate game board
              Ett Alga
Spel
Publisher: Aktiebolaget Alga - Stockholm - ±1950
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the small board: 42.8 x 43.1 cm
The game:
This set is owned by Bengt-Eric Westin - S.

As Bengt-Eric pointed me to his edition he also told me "I can remember I played the game frequently with my friends the summer of 1954."
This interesting remark is a proof to me that the estimated date of issue is correct.

This time the Chans cards are blue green through, while the Allmänning cards are yellowish.
Better quality paper has now been used for the banknotes

The plastic tokens that go with this set are: iron - car + car - train - hat - thimble and a munkpanna.
The houses and hotels are made of crude wood.
Of this set 1 of the wooden dice is green, the other one red, both with white pips.

Green box of ±1950.Edition: Monopol - small green box with separate game board
              Ett Alga
Spel
Publisher: Aktiebolaget Alga - Stockholm - ±1950
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the small board: 42.8 x 43.1 cm
The game:
Different colored plastic tokens of the fifties.Again this edition is of the series of "color edged small boxes of the 1950 era". So there are only minor differences compared to the blue edition described in detail.

The typical Swedish plastic tokens are this time as the picture shows. Swedish munkpanna.

(Compare the white token with this cast iron 17th century munkpanna! A "munk" = a Dutch "poffertje" = "small or ball pancake")

Yellow box of ±1950.Edition: Monopol - small yellow box with separate game board
              Ett Alga
Spel
Publisher: Aktiebolaget Alga - Stockholm - ±1950
Dimensions of the box: 16.2 x 19.2 cm
of the small board: 42.8 x 43.1 cm
The game:
This edition is also one of the "color edged small boxes of the 1950 era".

Long blue box of ±1952.Edition: Monopol - long blue box (1)
Publisher: Aktiebolaget Alga - Stockholm - ±1952
Dimensions of the box: 44.0 x 28.4 cm
                  of the board: 42.8 x 43.1 cm
The game:
This is the first Swedish edition in a long box containing however the same sized board as in the earlier mentioned small box editions. The lid still shows the white hotel and the red house under construction. The solid Monopol bar however makes the presentation somewhat more modern.

David Miller - UK has two of these long blue box editions in his collection.
The board of both sets is identical to those of the small box, having a bright yellow face side. It has a red marble back.

New banknotes again in first LONG Blue BOX - ±1952.The most striking renewal in this edition is with the banknotes again! For the fourth time the design has been changed, while the number of denominations went back to 6. Although the bills (82x46 mm) show a rosette with "Ett ALGA spel" on top, they are issued by the Nationalbanken. All denominations have the same number P 980025 and show 2 signatures in the image of the Stockholm townhall.

Typical Swedish tokens of the early 1950's. The Chans cards are light blue, the Allmänning cards pink.
The 6 small, plastic tokens are again: train - thimble - car - hat - iron and munkpanna.
The houses and hotels are made of crude wood.
The Rules are printed inside the lid. That should have been done as a standard, because on this way they never can be lost as unfortunately so often happens.
The game goes with dark blue wooden dice with white spots, almost hand painted. Not precision printed like more recent dice.

There is a little control coupon in the set.

Colored plastic tokens being Business men with bowler hat and briefcase.Edition: Monopol - long blue box (2)
Publisher: Aktiebolaget Alga - Stockholm - ±1952
Dimensions of the box: 44.0 x 28.4 cm
                  of the board: 42.8 x 43.1 cm
The game:
This second long blue box of David Miller's collection only slightly differs from the first one, although a new model of the tokens appeared for the first time.

Apricot or peach marble back of the game board.Differences from version (1) are:

The back of this game board has an Apricot or Peach marble appearance.

This is the first set showing the typical Swedish tokens of the very formal business man with bowler hat, corresponding
to the image on the centre of the board. The man has a briefcase under his right arm.

White box with 1x precursor of Rich Uncle Pennybags, ±1961.Edition: Monopol - white box, without Ref.Nr.
"ALGAS berömda affärsspel för hela familjen"
Publisher: Parker Bros.Inc./ab alga Sweden - ±1961
Dimensions of the box: 44.0 x 28.4 cm
                  of the board: 42.3 x 41.3 cm
The game:
Since the introduction of the "1961 copyright" from Parker Brothers more uniform presentations all over the world were introduced,
of which the white box with a "gameboard in green in blue square with red Monopoly bar" is the first presentation. That was also
the start of the rise of Parker Brothers designs and in the same time the fading away of Alga's influence.
However, this first edition still have the "bubbles and stars" color bars on top the property spaces and on the other hand the first  presentation of a "precursor of Rich Uncle Pennybags" shown as well in a red square on the lower right side of the lid as in
the board's centre.

This first edition shows "ab alga" in the blue square of the image on the lid instead of a red logo.
Colored plastic tokens being Business men with bowler hat and briefcase. The game board has a light blue background, in accordance with Dan Glimne's statement on top of this chapter. Its back is white. The fold of the board is perpendicular to the first side.
A small modification in the design of the board introduced a lamp (but not the Parker version) on the Elverket property as well as the fourth different design of the bathtub on the Vattenledningsverket property. This time the bath is not overflowing and the walls have been black and white tiled.
The tokens of this edition are the same "business men with bowler hats", as from the long blue box (2).

The box
is broader than the game board so the smaller section of the white insert of the innerbox is for storage of the attributes.

The Chans cards are pink while the Allmänning cards are light blue.
The wooden houses and hotels are tent-shaped.
Both dice are of red wood.

This set was sold on www.tradera.com for 155 kr. (€ 16.70) February 2008.

Lid of white box ref.1-1207-8.Edition: Monopol - white box, Art.Nr.1-1207- 8
"ALGAS berömda affärsspel för hela familjen"
Publisher: Parker Bros.Inc./© AB Alga Sweden - ±1976
Dimensions of the box: 44.0 x 28.4 cm
                  of the board: 42.3 x 41.3 cm
The game:
It took some 10 to 15 years before a new design of the board was launched and this time "Rich Uncle Pennybags appears twice" on the board.
The board in the green square of the image on the lid also show those two pictures as well as a red alga logo in the blue square. This together makes a  great difference compared to the "almost same" edition issued in 1961.

Board of edition 1-1207-8.For the rest the game board, with its very light blue green background and white back has hardly been changed in all those years.
This time the fold of the board is horizontal to the first side.
Banknotes of edition 1-1207-8.Two new items of this edition are striking:

For the fifth time the Alga designers made new banknotes: 6 different
denominations in  a new pattern, all bearing the same serial number

N0 123456789
.

And for the third time in about 20 years Alga used different tokens
The grey plastic version of the original metal tokens.
Although the subjects are worldwide
well-known the fact that they are
oversized
and made of cheap grey
plastic
make them special anyhow.

The property deeds are printed on white card stock perforated sheets.
The light blue Chans- and orange Allmänning (76x 48 mm) cards are also on perforated sheets from which they have to be torn loose.
The hollow plastic houses and hotels have a chimney and an overhanging roof.
The dice are blue and have white pips.
The Rules are printed on the inside of the lid.

Leather case De Luxe edition, 1977.Edition: Monopol De Luxe - 40 years anniversary edition
Publisher: Parker Brothers -1977
Dimensions of the box: 42.9 x 22.7 x 5.3 cm
The game:
This de Luxe edition is from the collection of Dan Glimne - S.

Since the first Monopoly edition was launched in Sweden two years later than it officially started in America, its 40th anniversary was celebrated in 1977. Dan knows to tell this luxury brown "attaché case" had a circulation of only 1000 copies.

The board is probably the last one according to the Swedish design, i.e. with 2 Uncle Pennybag images on the playside and "bubbles and stars" in some color bars.
The property deeds are the same as of the standard edition of this period.
The attaché case opened. The Chans- and Allmänning cards are white. The backside of the Chans cards show a red question mark in a red frame, the Allmänning cards have a light blue paragraph sign
The 6 banknotes are the same as in the standard edition. Each denomination has its own band around the bundle with the text "Monopolbanken".
The houses and hotels are composed of 2 parts of wood, the houses with a green roof, the hotels with a red one. These houses and hotels were also used in other countries around 1970, see f.e. the 1968 German edition in http://www.muurkrant.nl/monopoly/brd_classic_games.htm
The set has only 6 light metal tokens: car - iron - dog - hat - shoe and ?.
Both dice have a gold look, so they may be of metal?

A similar set was sold on www.tradera.com at the price of 1035 kr. (€111.10) Januari 2008.

White box with Parker swirl, ±1980.Edition: Standard - white box, Art.Nr.: 92110/10
"Copyright 1935, 1946, 1961 by Parker Brothers USA"
Publisher: Parker Brothers. - ±1980
Dimensions of the box: 26 x 51 cm
The game:
This is an almost 100% Parker Brothers version of the white box started in the early sixties. The lid shows a "gameboard in green in blue square with red Monopoly bar" with under that bar the logo of Rich Oncle Pennybags in a red square inbetween 2  blue Parker locomotives. In the red square is the number 77314. In the left lower corner is the Parker logo with swirl. There is no text on top the red Monopoly bar.

The design of the gameboard, with red back, is now according to Parker Brothers, see a. o. their typical black engines on the stations, the blue treasure chest on the Allmänning spaces and the gold ring on the Luxury Tax space. However, the property names are still twice on the spaces.
The word Monopol is in closed black letters in the centre of the board, parallel to the first side.
The fold of the board is perpendicular to that side.
The innerbox contains a red plastic insert, showing the word Monopoly, with 13 holes for the banker's attributes.
The bottom of the box shows a black and white picture of the so-called inventor of Monopoly: Charles B. Darrow next to the "Monopols historia".

The rent of the unbuilt most expensive yellow street, Stureplan, is still the same as that of the other 2 streets, viz. Kr. 400.
The Chans and Almänning cards (55x84 mm) are white and have rounded corners. Both sides of the Chans cards are in very light pink, the Almänning cards are in very light blue. The back sides of the cards show a pattern of engine-Uncle Pennybags-engine.
The banknotes, printed in color on white paper,  are of the Monopoly type, so with the remark "pat.app.for Nº3796-36" written underneath the note's denomination in the centre. There are only 6 denominations: 50 - 200 - 500 - 1.000 - 2000 and 10.000. There goes two sets of them with the game.
The plastic houses and hotels have an overhanging roof and only the houses have a central chimney. The 8 light metal tokens are resp.: hat - boat - shoe - thimble - dog - iron - car and wheelbarrow .
Both dice are white with black pips or also red with gold pips.

This edition was "Printed in France".

On the board with red back is Monopol in open  characters with Rich Uncle Pennybags coming out the middle O, parallel to the first side.
The crease of the board is perpendicular to the first side.
The property names are still twice on the spaces, the only remains of the Waddington design!
The rent of the unimproved yellow Stureplan is still unchanged Kr. 400.
The Chans and Almänning cards (55x84 mm) are white and have rounded corners. Both sides of the Chans cards are in very light pink, the Almänning cards are in very light blue. The back sides of the cards show a pattern of engine-Uncle Pennybags-engine.

White standard 1985 edition Parker/Kenner.Edition: Standard - Réf. 001111690
Publisher: Parker Bros., Div.of Kenner Parker  - 1985
Dimensions of the box: 26 x 51 cm
The game:
(The Art.Nr. is only mentioned on the play side of the game board.)

This set is from the collection of David Miller - UK.

The design of this game has some resemblance with the other edition of 1985. The lid however is slightly less colorful and shows the red bar with Uncle Pennybags on top the picture of a part of the fourth side of the board now. The red dice show a 3 and 5
The bottom of the box now shows, as with the corresponding sets of other countries, one large black and white picture of the board with the money and other attributes around.
Parker/Kenner board from 1985.The game board has a blue green midfield and its back is red. Monopoly is in closed, black characters in a frame diagonally on the midfield.
The tray is of soft red plastic and the division (with 7 sections for the banknotes) is the same.
The banknotes show in the circle "Monopoli® - Monopoly® - Monopol®" and "Copyright 1935 by Parker Brothers USA".

Gå vidare till Norrmalmstorg - 1985Edition: Gå vidare till Norrmalmstorg
              "Högt spel med stora risker"
Publisher: Parker Bros./Kenner Parker - 1985
Dimensions of the box: 26 x 50.6 cm
The game:
This is another set from the collection of David Miller - UK.
The subtitle of this game says "Play high game with large risks" while an image of Uncle Pennybags appears on the lid. This are sufficient reasons to add this game, in 1985 issued by Parker Bros., to the collection of Monopoly-like games.

The idea however differs importantly from Monopoly: The board is oblong: 22.5 x 89 cm and contains 4 colored groups of 5 spaces each, of which the maximum of 4 players have to collect the properties cards
The 4 tokens are respectively: Pram - Roller skate - Sail boat and a Moped
There are 3 dice, one of them being white and provided with a F (Framsteg = progress), W (Wild) and one of the colors of each of the 4 spaces on the other 4 sides. Furthermore are 80 hotel units, 20 per color of the tokens. Dependent on the number of players each player gets 14 to 20 hotels. He is to build these, subject to the number of pips thrown, on spaces at choice. The Framsteg (Fortunprogress) cards will help. The token is always put on the space that relates to the total of the property cards the player has in possession. Player can no longer take part when he has no more hotels.
Winner is of course the one who finally has most properties.
The cover shows a "years twenties"-like illustration of a hotel entrance with a Rolls Royce-like car. The bottom of the box is plain white.

The set was manufactured in France.

Identical games are Advance to Boardwalk (USA), Bau auf der Schossallee (D), Parco della Vittoria (I), La Calle Mayor (E), Marble Arch (GB) and Ga verder naar Kalverstraat (NL).

Standard long box of 1993.Edition: Standard, Ref.Nr. 06951/106
Publisher: Parker Bros./Tonka Corp./Hasbro Scan.A.S. - DK -1993
Dimensions of the box: 26 x 51 cm
The game:
This edition is from the collection of Steve Amato - New York.

The two most remarkable new things of this issue are:

The word Monopoly, with Rich Uncle Pennybags, in the red bar, diagonally over the game board.

The street names do no longer appear twice on the property spaces.

This is a set of the Irish works in Waterford, so with on the lid the fourth side of the gameboard showing the collection of attributes (a wad of banknotes, car and shoe, 2 red dice (showing a 3 and 3), 2 property deeds, a house and hotels ) on a green background. On the bottom of the box is the well-known colorpicture of the laughing family that is looking to each other rather then to the game. Frome now on the Swedish editions will be the same as in all other countries except for the properties and the language of course.

The gameboard's back is red, as the insert of the innerbox is.
The back side of the Chans cards is printed with a red ?, while the Allmänning cards show the blue treasure chest.
The banknotes (47x94 mm) are of class B, i.a. Monopoly money in black print on colored background in denominations of: 20- 50 - 100 - 500 - 1000 - 2000 and 10000 Krona.
The 10 tokens are of heavy metal,  "made in China" and are resp.: hat - wheel-barrow - shoe - car - canon - rider-on-horse - thimble - iron - boat and dog.
The plastic houses do have a chimney, the hotels don't.
Both dice are white with black pips.

These sets were made in Ireland.

Standard edition from 1996.Edition: Standard, Ref.Nr. 14535/106
Publisher: Parker/Tonka/Hasbro - 1996
Dimensions of the box: 26.8 x 40.3 x 5.3 cm

of the double folded board: 25.2 x 25.2 cm
The game:
The (first) owner of this edition was Gullan Sjöberg - S.

Increased rent on Stureplan, edition 1996. This edition is a sample of the "new look" of the games manufactured in the Irish works.
The fresh white box shows a red bar and a part of the fourth side of the board.
Striking are the new dimensions of the box. Hasbro told this is because of standardization of the sizes of all of their games. So herewith the long box we called standard so far disappears. The lid shows 2 white dice with a 3 and 5.
This new box contains a red plastic tray insert with newly shaped slots for the banknotes and title cards of the banker.
The board is folded in four like in the so-called "small box". The back side is red and the play side is blue green. Monopoly is in closed, black characters in a black frame diagonally on the midfield.
The set is manufactured in Ireland and so it has again a picture of a "laughing family" at the back of the box.

The rent of the unimproved Stureplan finally has been increased to kr. 480, more than 50 years after the mistake was made with the original USA edition and much later than in most other countries.

The nice Chans cards have a red back with a ? in a yellow ellipse, while the Allmänning cards have a blue back with the well-known blue treasure chest in the yellow ellipse. The banknotes are of the new model, i.e. with a black Monopoly banner and Uncle Pennybags in the upper part of the circle and, almost unvisible, the remark "1996 Tonka Corporation".
The 10 tokens are of pewter and likely no longer manufactured in China.
The green, plastic houses do have a chimney, the red hotels don't.
One die is blue the other one black and both have white dots.

Swedish version of the WC France 98.Edition: VM - upplagan Frankrike - 98 - France 98, Réf. 19618/106
Publisher: Parker/ Hasbro France S.A. - 1997
Dimensions of the box: 40 x 27 x 6.5 cm
The game:
This is a box in the colors dark blue, silver and of course red.
The game board spaces can hardly be found on the cover, but so a couple of soccer players, eachone in an energic posture but not in a match position. The lid also contains a hologram sticker with logo France 98. On the bottom of the box is a clear picture of the game board and its attributes. Besides it shows that an innerbox as soccer ground is supplied with the set.

The bankers tray is of soft dark blue plastic and has a special space for the square game board. In this game the properties are of course national soccer teams, viz. those of the 22 best clubs of the official worldlist as it is composed by the FIFA on the basis of the results of the countries in all worldcup finals since 1930
On the game board they are respectively:

Scotland - Switserland - Romania - Chile - Mexico - Belgium - Austria - Czechoslovakia - The Netherlands - Poland - Hungary - Yougoslavia - France - Sweden - Uruguay - Russia - Spain - England - Argentine - Italy - Germany and Brasil

The spaces have the well-known color bars and are furthermore characterized by a T-shirt of the concerning country. The stations are replaced by the 4 most important stadiums of France, viz. Stade Velodrome of Marseille, Stade du Parc de Princes in Paris, Le Stade de France in Saint-Denis and Stade de Gerland of Lyon.
The 2 public utilities are now Electric Works and Softdrink Manufacturer (marked by a red beaker but not of Coca Cola). It is remarkable that one can be sent to jail in this game as well.
The Chans- and Allmänning spaces are here of course Borta (Away) and Hemma (Home).
The 8 tokens are resp. a shoe, cap, beaker, hamburger, goal, whistle, bal and the (gold colored) FIFA Worldcup Trophy (with the mark "1974 FIFA TM© in the base).

Other differences with the standard Monopoly game are:

MONOPOL

VM - UPPLAGAN FRANKRIKE - 98

Income tax

Transfer costs

Green houses and red hotels

Red stands and blue stadiums

Sixsided dice

Football dice (all figures double)

The money is Swedish kronor

The money has no value

Standard edition of 2001.Edition: Standard - Long box- Ref.Nr. 060100009106
Publisher: Parker Bros./Hasbro Nordic - DK - June 2001
Dimensions of the box: 26.8 x 40.1 x 5.2 cm
of the folded game board: 25.2 x 25.2 cm
The game:
Parker/Hasbro is constantly worldwide standardizing their games (because of which they become the less interesting for collectors, to my opinion). Now the standard issues of all countries have gotten the number 9, the number valid for all American standard editions since the early 1935 issues.

The appearance of this new issue is characterized by:

The illustration on the lid is provided with a somewhat cheap looking red rim.

Only 4 spaces of the 4th side of the game board, shown in perspective, with 1 house, 1 hotel, the hat and racing car tokens as well as both white dice,
showing 4 and 3.

The perspective red Monopoly bar with its nice shadow effect and "Mr.Monopoly" with red bow tie (till 2000 he was called Rich Uncle Pennybags) in the middle O, shown on the lid, the game board's midfield as well on all 4 rims of the innerbox.

Europe edition- 2003.Edition: Monopol Europa Edition - Swedish, Ref.Nr. 15283/106
Publisher: Parker/Hasbro, Inc. - 2003
Dimensions of the box: 6.5 x 26.8 x 40.1cm
The game:
This edition is based on the one issued 1999 under ref. 05597 in various countries at the introduction of the Euro currency. The properties on the board were the capital cities of at that time 15 countries belonging to the European Union and 7 countries that were to join in the years to come. The makers of this game already anticipated by situating these countries at the beginning of the game. The most expensive properties became the capital cities of the countries who were first to become member. Groups who became member together are partitioned to the size of their capital population.
However, the designers of Parker/Hasbro made a big mistake in making Genève the capital of Switserland. That must have been the reason for them to re-issue the goldy box under the new name "Europe edition" and a modified game board with Bern as capital of Switserland.

The capital cities and countries are from G onwards:

Vilnius (Lithuania) - Riga (Latvia) - Sofia (Bulgaria) - Bukarest (Romania) - Warsaw (Poland) - Budapest (Hungaria) - Bern (Switserland) - Helsinki (Finland) - Stockholm (Sweden) - Vienna (Austria) - Lisbon (Portugal) - Madrid (Spain) - Athens (Greece) - Dublin (Ireland) - Copenhagen (Danmark) - London (United Kingdom) - Luxemburg (Luxemburg) - Brussels (Belgium) - Amsterdam (The Netherlands) - Rome (Italy) - Berlin (Germany) and Paris (France).
The 4 stations became the 4 busiest airports of Europe, namely Schiphol (Amsterdam) - Rhein-Main (Frankfurt) - Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Heathrow.
Both utilities became: the European Parliament and the European Court of Justice.

It is a pitty that there are only 8 tokens, a very limited choice out of 22 countries. Hasbro had choosen for: The Houses of Parliament (England) -  Eiffeltower (France) - Brandenburger Tor (Germany) - Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy) - Manneken Pis (Belgium) - La Sagrada Familia (Spain) - Parthenon (Greece) and of course a windmill for The Netherlands.
I wonder why these pewter tokens are not nicely gilded?
The carefully edited booklet of the Rules give a detailed explanation of these tokens.
The 7 different banknotes are nice copies of the real €-notes. The € 1's are gold and silver colored (plastic) coins. On or over Gå you receive €200.
There is no explanation given why the plastic houses with roof edge and chimney are dark blue now and the hotels gold brown
Both dice are dark blue with gold pips.

3D Disney Monopoly in Swedish - 19631.Edition: Nytt Monopol Disney utgåvan - Swedish, Ref.Nr.19631/106
              "Fälls upp" (unfolds)
Publisher: Parker/Hasbro Nordic - DK - 2005
Dimensions of the box: 27.0 x 40.2 x 6.5 cm
The game:
Again Parker/Hasbro introduces something completely new: a 3D fairy-tale castle opens on the centre-field of the game board of this Disney edition. It is nice to see, but I wonder if it plays nice as well?

I know all properties are based on titles of Disney books, but because I do not own this edition myself and I cannot think up the Swedish names of the books I hope some owner of this set is willing to report me all the streets?

Except for the 6 (or 8?) standard fairy-tale tokens this edition has a very special and essential one, viz. Tinker Bell. An addition paper give an explanation of the Special Rule for this game. In order to make this edition even more magic you shall introduce elf Tinker Bell:

1. Prepare the game as usual and put Tinker Bell token at the
corner.
2. The moment a player throws double Tinker Bell proceeds 1 space. Besides she jumps over the Tax-, Showtime- and Magic World spaces as well as the Jail and
    Free Parking.
3. When you land on a property owned by another player and Tinker Bell is staying there already, it is the Banker who pays the rent for you.
4. When you land on a property that doesn't yet belongs to someone else while Tinker Bell is there already, you'll get the property for free.

Junior edition 2005.Edition: Monopol Junior - Swedish, Ref.Nr. 00441/106
Publisher: Parker/Hasbro Nordic - DK - 2005
Dimensions of the box:
26.8 x 26.8 cm
of the oblong board: 25 x 50.5 cm
The game:

The Junior editions remain unchanged over the years as far as its principles are concerned. So the only thing the maker can do
is to put all items in a box with a new design. And indeed it has a nice and fresh appearance.

Monopoly as a Dice Game.Edition: Monopoly express, Ref. Nr. 030642787/179
"Det roliga med Monopol på 20 minuter"
Publisher: Parker/Hasbro Nordic - DK - 2006
Dimensions of the box: diam. 15.5 cm x 4.5 cm
The game:
Note: Hasbro's Country Number 179 (in the games Ref.Nr.) stands for "all Scandinavian countries".

This game is just an other presentation, though a nice one, of the Dice game, like f.e. ref.nr.14087F, issued in 1992 in France and ref.nr.44029 issued in the UK in 1993.

As the subtitle says: The whole Monopoly pleasure can be enjoyed with this game in but 20 minutes. There are 11 dice showing not only figures from 50 to 500 but also locomotives and policemen
On your turn, throw all the dice as many times as you wish to get as many "streets" of the same color and so get the highest score you can. However, if you throw all three policemen, your turn ends and you lose all the points for that turn.

This edition is "Made in China".

Här & nu edition, 2006.Edition: Monopol Här & nu utgåvan, Ref.Nr. 050600114/106
Publisher: Parker/Hasbro Nordic - DK - May 2006
Dimensions of the box: 27.0 x 40.2 x 6.5 cm
The game:
This completely new Swedish edition of the world wide launched new "Here and Now" design came almost a year later than the corresponding German issue, but as I still believe, that country had to take the lead in the development of all different versions as
there are:

"Here and Now" with red car showing Mr. Monopoly at the wheel. Some editions have "MR. M70" on the licence plate,
meaning "Mr.Monopoly's 70th birthday", but in other countries
the licence plate only show the word "Monopoly".

"Here and Now" with red car on the electronic banking issues using credit cards and a card reader.

"Here and Now" with Mr. Monopoly in a red helicopter showing the credit cards to be used with the card reader
belonging to this electronic banking version. This is the design of this Swedish edition.

The motto for this 70th anniversary edition was for all countries "How would Monopoly look like should it has been invented today?".
Some countries used this motto for the title of the edition, like France with "Et si Monopoly était inventé aujourd'hui? (see also chapter www.muurkrant.nl/monopoly/france_-_2005_-_New_streets.htm). Other countries used names identical to this Swedish one like "Here and Now" in England, "Itt és most!" in Hungary and different like the "Van Dam tot Dom" in the Netherlands.

For these editions the streets have been substituted by very well-known (large) objects like buildings, stadiums and monuments. The amounts have been made "contemporary" as well. So you will not collect € 200 over , but € 2 million instead, so a factor 10,000 more. However everything is of course correspondingly more expensive: The purchase price for a station became f.e. € 2 million. Is there any reason why all those useless nils have been applied?

For all corresponding editions applies in addition:

The game board's background is silvery grey. Its back is black.
The Allmänning spaces show a modern black chest, filled up with (yellow) gold rods. The grey backside of the Chans cards has a red ?.
The Fastighetsskatt-space show a more modern goldring with 3 red stones.
The mortgage side of the property deeds (56x87 mm) is grey.
A banker's tray, a dark blue plastic insert in the innerbox, containing a.o. special slots for property deeds and credit cards.
The blue green houses are ellipse shaped and 6 mm in height. They have no pointed roof and are stackable.
The red hotels have the same shape but are 31 mm in length. Since they are hollow they are very light and because of that not very practical. Neighter it is clear what the purpose of the stackability of these hotels can be.
The 6 metal tokens are: a skateboard - skeeler - racing car - mobile - money bag and airplane.
Besides some countries has an additional token characteristic for the country. However this Swedish edition hasn't one.
Six Parker/Visa credit cards are packed together with the Visa card reader, all "made in China". Credit cards replace the banknotes (which can be ordered should you like to have them as yet). All winnings and spendings are booked per player in the card reader unit.
Both dice are white with black pips.
A richly illustrated Rules booklet of 15 pages goes with this edition.

Skandia Mäklarna sticker on standard Här & nu edition.Edition: Monopol Här & nu utgåvan, Ref.Nr. 050600114/106

"Skandia Mäklarna edition" (edition of Skandia Brokers)
Publisher: Parker/Hasbro Nordic - DK - May 2006
Dimensions of the box: 27.0 x 40.2 x 6.5 cm
The game:
Skandia Mäklarna is a Swedish house agent who used this Monopoly edition for an advertising campaign launched spring 2007.
Their site http://www.valkommenhem.se/start.php?lang=en show the Ericson family inviting you to play Monopoly with them.
When you have given 5 correct answers you can participate in a draw to win one of 100 new Monopoly games. Really an interesting way of promoting a house selling company, reason why I like to make this public in this Lexicon.

It struck me that this 70th anniversary edition is used for advertising by a company with 70 offices (see the white sticker)!

The game used for this campaign has nothing special except for the white sticker in the upper right corner of the box.

Square box with 00009 ref.nr.-2006.Edition: Standard - Square box- Ref.Nr. 050600009/106
Publisher: Parker Bros./Hasbro Nordic - DK - May 2006
Dimensions of the box: 26.8 x 26.8 cm
of the game board: 25.2 x 25.2 cm
The game:
Instead of issuing a reprint of the standard box from 2001 Parker Bros./Hasbro decided in all their wisdom, for some misterious reason, to issue a new sized box with the same ref.nr. 00009 already in use for the standard edition.
It looks like the standard edition will from now on be in the square box?

Accept for the new sizes all the rest is exactly the same.

Dimensions of the box: 26.8 x 26.8 x 5.4 cm
of the folded game board: 25.2 x 25.2 cm
The game:
I was very surprised to recognize the "Här & nu" design of a few years earlier, but now with Mr. Monopoly driving a red car with the very special license plate bearing number "MR. M70" (meaning Mr.Monopoly 70 years of age). Only on second glance the Swedish flag is to be seen, hidden behind the red Monopoly bar. And at last it appears this issue to be a "Sweden edition"!

As the text on the yellow card on the lid elucidates the cities on the property spaces have been choosen by the pleople of Sweden. The picture on the lid will doubtless be a compilation of buildings easilly to be recognized by the Swedish voters.
This all means the game board has new street names composed of cities from all over the country

All properties of this new issue are from onwards:

CITY GAMES

On his internetsite the publisher of the Swedish city games, In-House Produkter Sverige AB Kunskapsspelet, tells about both versions of his city games:

"Kunskapsspelet (Knowledge game) is based on an earlier draft we published and you surely will know: Lokalspelet (City game).
Lokalspelet editions were manufactured from 1988 till 1992 of almost 90 towns and districts in Sweden and have been sold in more than 500,000 copies. The Swedish people now has about 3100 Swedish companies mentioned in Lokalspelet in a period of more than 10 years.

Are you businessman, omniscient, curious, challenger or do you only make a trip?
Kunskapsspelet is not only a dynamic and funny game for the whole family, it also is a great source of knowledge about the town you or your friends live in.
This new Kunskapsspelet is loaded with questions of  your own town, almost 400 questions the designer take them for unique for each town in question. You do fight for the control over 50 local companies or organizations, you challenge your friends for duels, keep auctions and receive of course visit from both the Ecocrime Ministry and Tax office.
Everyone can play together, each on his own level - you don't need to let grandpa win for long - he can get the somewhat easier questions that are on each card.
It takes 5 minutes to learn how to play the game but you will have fun for many years to come.

The basic standard design of the LOKALSPELET is always the same:

All properties are sponsored by local companies.

Trade is in shares, not in houses and hotels.

An outer wrap of cardboard, serving as the game board, also contains the Rules, printed on one third of the unfolded wrap. The box is not plastic wrapped.

There are 8 different colored property sections, with 3 properties per color. But they supply 2 cards per property (these are all sponsored by a business in the town where the game is based).

There are 4 properties positioned like stations on Monopoly. These are usually sponsored by the utillity companies.

Except for the corner the other 3 are typical for the present town.

When you pass , you receive 30,000 Kr.

A polystyrene contents tray has 9 holes: 5 for the money (sponsored by a different bank for each edition): 1.000 - 5.000 - 10.000 - 50.000 and 100.000

The banknotes show the name of the sponsoring Bank, next to a Lokalspelet logo. The denominations are printed in black on colored paper.

The cards are numbered 1 -100, although the number differs per edition! There are 2 different types of cards. They all have a picture on the front side. One show questions, to be answered depending on the number on the dice (see nr.38),  while the other ones are instruction cards (see nr. 9 and 90)

The tokens are 6 simple wooden Aggravation pawns.

2 red dice with white pips.

1+2. What was the name of the rebellion leader who burned the
        Falkenberg castle?
        Answer: Engelbrekt
3+4. In which village is the old Hagbards gallows?
       Answer: Asige village
5+6. In which church of the community is a large reredos
       by Pehr Hörberg?

                 Share pay/tax      yellow series
If the dice show 8 or more in the last throw you receive share payment, 7 or less pay tax. Throw one die again to decide how
high the payment/tax has to be.
Each pip on the die must be multiplied by 5.000:-. That becomes your  payment or tax per share.
You have troubles in finding a place to stay and at Nordiska trähus you have to make your choice. There you will get precise and careful tips.
Nordiska trähus is a hit for the future.
You have to move your token now to the Nordiska trähus corner.

Wooden car tokens of the Kunskapsspelet.Kunskapsspelet money, front and back side. The basic standard design of the KUNSKAPSSPELET is always the same:

All properties are sponsored by local companies.

Trade is in shares, not in houses and hotels.

An outer wrap of cardboard, serving as the game board, also containing
the Rules, printed on a strip at the right from the corner. The box is not
plastic wrapped. The middle section of the wrap shows a picture of the game
board with some attributes, while the third part give some explanation to the
game as well as of the sponsoring companies and other contributors.

The board is oblong with 17 spaces on the long sides and but 11 on the
short sides.

There are 8 different colored property sections: along the long sides both
groups of properties consist of 4 spaces, on the short sides the groups have 3 spaces.
Only one property card of each is provided.

There are no longer station/utillity cards.  These 4 spaces now allow entrance to the inner section of the board.

Except for the and Jail corner the other 2 corners are typical for the present town.

When you pass , you now receive 3,000,000 Kr, 100x more than in the Lokalspelet.

The black "banker's tray" has only 5 holes. So no holes for each of the banknotes.

The money consists of very colorful and nicely illustrated banknotes. The denominations are now 100 x higher: 100.000 -
500.000 - 1.000.000 - 5.000.000 and 10.000.000. The notes do not name the sponsoring bank but they do have a
Kunskapsspelet logo.

The instruction cards with a picture on the other side are now called Chanskort. Their number varies per issue.

The cards with questions depending on dice numbers are called Fråga (question). Also the number of these cards
varies per edition.

The tokens are 6 wooden cars.

2 dice, the colors of which vary per edition.
