Classic Version 2025 - Major changes for 90th Anniversary (USA)
2025
2025 - Code: ???
This is a dual language version with the languages French and German.
January 2025 and Hasbro has done a full refresh of the "Classic" version from bottom up permanently going from the European size box to a Square box. The change to a square box came to most versions including versions made by outside companies like Winning Moves and USAopoly.
Box
Size: 10.1 x 10.1 x 1.6 inches
The box is now square, being 2/3 as long as past editions.
The lid of the box now has more colours used and is 2D with only the "Go" square and "Boardwalk" properties shown, so you know that this version is the "Classic" version with a quick look. There is only the car token and two dice shown. At the bottom of the lid are a variety of coloured squares with like "watermark" images in the including Mr. Monopoly, The Police Officer from the board, Chance logo, Community Chest logo, the electricity bulb and Luxury tax "ring". The new Hasbro Games logo is in the bottom right. This is a lot less clutered design and will stand out more than the previous versions.
Tokens
Welcome to more tokens with this update. They are approximately 20% bigger now than the previous versions and eight in total.
They are: Penguin, /Rubber Ducky, Dog, Cat, Hat, Thimble (we lost in 2017 to The Tyrannosaurus Rex but came back in 2024 replacing the Tyrannosaurus Rex), Money bag (from 1998 to 2008 and replaces the battleship) and the car.
Board
Size: 20 x 20 x 0.1 inches
With the box being square, the board is, of course, quad folded.
All symbols, apart from Go, are redrawn. Some of the symbols are more noticeable than others. Harry Moore is responsible for doing the corner spaces (Go to Jail, Free Parking and Just Visiting).
All the spaces (other than the corners) have a white chevron pattern over them, making the property names easier to see (better contrast). The railroads use a slightly darker chevron.
The logo in the centre of the board is just plain "MONOPOLY" and no Mr. Monopoly in site.
